Marvin Hobby

For many years, Marvin Hobby had a successful career as a top ranking corporate manager at Georgia Power Company. He raised two concerns to upper management. The first was about the accuracy of testimony they asked him to give in another whistleblower case, and the second was about the legality of the corporation’s organizational structure. Mr. Hobby’s position was soon eliminated as a result, he ultimately proved, in retaliation for those protected activities. Kohn, Kohn & Colapinto successfully represented Mr. Hobby from the hearing phase through the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit against Georgia Power Company’s aggressive appeals. Further, KKC was successful in Collecting Damages for Mr. Hobby, winning the largest damage award ever obtained under the federal environment and nuclear whistleblower laws. Mr. Hobby’s final judgment, based on the numerous decisions in his favor, ordered that he be reinstated and paid damages and fees totaling more than $5 million.
